Augmentin 1000mg is used to treat bacterial infections, including those conditions in which a medicine containing amoxicillin or clavulanic acid may be active is caused by bacteria. This medicine may be used in combination with other medicines to treat bacterial infections.
Each tablet of Augmentin 1000mg contains the active ingredient Amoxicillin. Amoxicillin is a penicillin-type antibiotic. It is commonly used to treat infections of the lungs (e.g., pneumonia), ear, nasal sinus, urinary tract, and skin. This medicine is also effective against sinusitis and related viral infections. The Amoxicillin content of this medicine is 98% (as the actual tablet strength is about 400 mg) and the content of clavulanic acid is 4.8 mg/mL. It is an antibiotic that treats a wide range of infections caused by bacteria.
This medicine is most effective when taken as a single dose. Your doctor may increase the dose to cover the severity of your infection. Do not take more than one dose of Augmentin 1000mg in a day.
